When Jenny Thorne, the founder of Gone Rural was approached by a group of basket makers from the Lavumisa region of eSwatini she decided to develop a new basket using lutindzi grass instead of the traditional sisal fibre, which was commonly found and available in the market place.  Using our signature material, these lutindzi baskets are still exclusive to Gone Rural.

Sinde 1992, Gone Rural have trained over 250 women on this new style of basket and have raised the quality and design of the finished product to the extent where many baskets have become collector's pieces and are now know as a heritage Swazi product.
